For centuries native Māori of New Zealand used various parts of the Mānuka tree to treat numerous skin and body conditions. MānukaDerMX™-O possesses strong antibacterial properties and is clinically proven to protect against C. acnes, C. xerosis while not harming normal bacteria such as S. epidermidis

In Vitro Study:

MānukaDerMX™-O at 2% was tested on sebaceous co-culture model. It has been found to effectively prevent the growth of pathogenic species like C. acnes and C. xerosis (causing acne and bacterial body odour) while not disturbing the presence of S. epidermidis – a beneficial bacterium representative of a normal skin microbiota.

In Vivo Study:

12 volunteers aged 16–40 applied gels with 2% MānukaDerMX™-O, 0.5% salicylic acid and a placebo to separate fresh pimples twice daily. After 2 days, MānukaDerMX™-O reduced pimple size significantly more than salicylic acid, and both pimple size and redness were significantly lower than with the placebo at days 2 and 4.
